General Science
“is designed to be a student’s first systematic introduction to the sciences, and covers such topics as the scientific method, designing experiments, simple machines, archaeology, geology, paleontology, biology, and human anatomy and physiology.” We will be doing lots of hands-on experiments and loosely follow Dr. Jay Wile's general science curriculum, but will be adding in some other topics and overall general science knowledge. This class is appropriate for ages 10-13 as the last science class before more formal ones.
Paula Domermuth graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s of science degree in chemical engineering from VA Tech. After working several years in industry, I became a stay-at-home mom and began homeschooling my first son in kindergarten. God's World News- Current events from a Biblical world view
Ages 4th-12th grades
In this class we will be using current events to educate and develop students in a biblical view of the world. It will focus on news stories using practical tools (explainers, maps, charts, graphs, and illustrations) to educate and provide students the knowledge needed truly to understand important issues and events. Students will be encouraged to act upon what they learn and become not only "hearers" of the word but "doers" in the spirit of James1:22
We will be using God's World News magazine (a publication of World News) which is available at 6 different reading levels. Each student will receive a copy of the monthly magazine (7 magazines total) at the level they choose.
Cost: $6 per class (7 issue magazine subscription included!)
About me: After graduating from University of Tennessee with a degree in Broadcast Communications in 1990 I joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ where I worked for 4 years at Auburn University teaching Bible study skills to University students and speaking in the Greek system from a Biblical world view. For the next 11 years I taught Bible study methods in Croatia (former Yugoslavia) to students at the University of Zagreb while opening a Campus Crusade ministries around the countries of Croatia and Bosnia. I continue to teach Biblical world view and Bible study methods to students involved in Campus Crusade at ASU in Boone. I love to see students learn to discover the truths of God's word on their own and develop the ability to use this knowledge to evaluate the world around them from a Biblical perspective.
